Tribute of Respect.

At a meeting of the officers and teachers of the Greensboro Presbyterian Sabbath School, on the afternoon of Sunday, August 10th, 1862, the following Preamble and Resolutions were unanimously adopted.

WHEREAS, It has pleased our Heavenly Father to take from us in his all wise and mysterious Providence, our brother teachers Henry C. and Julius L. Gorrell; the one by the hand of our enemies on the field of battle, and the other, but a few weeks afterwards, by means of disease, in his quiet home both of whom were tried from their infancy as pupils in this school, and continued their connection with it; as teachers, until separated from us by the calls of duty to their country therefore,

Resolved, That while we would bow in humble submission to the will of God, we feel that, in the death of these young men, our school and the church have sustained a loss that cannot be easily repaired although we believe that our loss is their everlasting gain.

Resolved, That we recognize, in the early devotion of their lives to the service of Christ, am evidence of the great value of Sabbath School training and that we feel encouraged to persevere, trusting that God will bless our efforts, and that He will call others into His vineyard to fill the places of those who He has permitted to rest from their labors.

Resolved, That we will ever cherish the memory of these young friends and fellow teachers, and that we tender to their afflicted parents, sisters and brothers our heartfelt sympathy in their sad bereavement.

Resolved, That copies of these resolutions be sent to the papers of the town for publication.
